Is indoor air quality monitoring required?
No. It is optional, never required. Fresh air and filtration work fully on their own. Monitoring can be added later if you would like it.
Calabasas is framed by the Santa Monica Mountains, and its residents know fire season well. Smoke can arrive with Santa Ana winds or drift in from fires many miles away, sometimes lingering for days. We design air quality systems that bring in fresh, filtered air on ordinary days and can be closed off to outdoor air when the air outside turns, keeping the home a calm, clean refuge.

Fresh air is supplied through an energy recovery ventilator, which brings in filtered outdoor air while exhausting stale air and retaining much of the home's comfort. In large Calabasas homes with closed-off bedrooms and media rooms, it keeps every space feeling fresh.
On poor outdoor air days, such as wildfire smoke, the fresh-air intake can be shut off or set to recirculate, and the system continues to filter and clean the air already inside. Automatic smoke response is something we design only for homes with compatible integrated controls, and we discuss it during the walkthrough.
Fine filtration in the MERV 15 to 16 range captures the small particles in smoke, pollen and household dust. An activated carbon stage reduces odors and many gases, which helps keep smoke smell out of fabrics and furnishings. Ultraviolet light in each air handler keeps coils and drain pans clean.
In homes with several systems, we apply the same layers to each one, so the guest suite and the gym are protected as well as the primary living areas.
If you want to see what's in your air, we can add indoor air quality monitoring that tracks fine particles, VOCs, and humidity, and ties into your filtration and fresh-air system. In homes with several systems, it can be added in the rooms the household uses most, or not at all.
Each design is fitted to the home and its existing equipment. White Glove members have filters, UV lamps and fresh-air dampers maintained on schedule, with a full check after any smoke event.

For full protection, yes. Smoke reaches every part of the house, so each air handler should have fine filtration. We review every system and recommend the right approach for each.
We recommend a full filter change and a check of the carbon stage and dampers so the home returns to its baseline. White Glove members have this scheduled automatically.
Outdoor air passes through filtration before it enters the home, so pollen and dust are captured on the way in. Many households notice fewer allergy symptoms once a ventilator and fine filtration are in place.
We will review the home and each of its systems and recommend an approach to fresh air and filtration, with monitoring available as an option. Every plan is tailored by proposal.
